Corrugated Graphite Tape for Valve Stem Packing, Flange Repair and Heat Exchanger Sealing

Kaxite corrugated graphite tape is produced from ≥99% carbon expanded graphite and rolled into a wave-profile ribbon. Unlike flat graphite tape, the corrugation creates controlled compression points that recover against pitted, warped or thermally cycled sealing faces. This makes corrugated graphite tape a practical choice for valve stem packing, pump stuffing boxes, flange repair and heat exchanger gasket replacement where a pre-cut ring cannot conform.

Corrugated graphite tape is supplied in 0.2–1.5 mm thickness and 3–100 mm slit widths, with optional pressure-sensitive adhesive, stainless steel wire, tanged metal or fiberglass mesh reinforcement. Buyers commonly specify corrugated graphite tape alongside expanded graphite gaskets and spiral wound gaskets in steam and hydrocarbon service.

Why corrugated structure matters in real sealing work

Compression and recoveryThe wave profile provides 35–50% compressibility and ≥20% recovery, helping corrugated graphite tape stay seated when flanges or stuffing boxes see thermal cycling.
Field-formable, no pre-sizingMaintenance teams wrap corrugated graphite tape around the shaft or spindle and compress with the gland, so small-diameter valves and emergency repairs do not require dozens of pre-made ring sizes.
Chemical and thermal envelopeCorrugated graphite tape suits steam, water, oils, solvents, acids and alkalis across -200°C to +800°C in inert atmosphere and up to +600°C in oxidizing atmosphere as a typical internal test value; confirm media and cycle frequency with Kaxite engineering.
Low sulfur and low chlorideSulfur ≤500 ppm, chloride ≤50 ppm and ash ≤0.5% make corrugated graphite tape suitable for fine chemical, low-halogen and low-corrosion-risk sealing specifications.

Where buyers typically specify corrugated graphite tape

Valve stem packing

Wrap and compress corrugated graphite tape in the stuffing box. The tape suits small-diameter valves and emergency leak repair when pre-made rings are not on site.

Irregular flange sealing

Corrugated graphite tape conforms to pitted, warped or rusted flange faces and is often used with graphite sheet as a backup sealing layer.

Heat exchanger gasket repair

Field-cut or wound corrugated graphite tape replaces failed gaskets in steam and thermal oil service without a full shutdown ring inventory.

Pump and stuffing box

Plant teams use corrugated graphite tape as free-size packing where shaft dimensions vary; the adhesive-backed version simplifies positioning during installation.

Bulk supply, customization and line-trial support

Kaxite Sealing runs corrugated graphite tape production in Ningbo, Zhejiang, from a facility with more than three decades of sealing-material engineering experience. Standard MOQ starts at 50 kg or 100–200 rolls per specification and is negotiable for trial orders. Kaxite Sealing supports custom slit widths from 3 mm, adhesive backing, wire or mesh reinforcement, private-label packaging and die-cut rolls for automated gasket lines.

Line-trial workflow: send media, temperature, flange finish and annual volume; Kaxite returns a specification match and a free sample; the customer runs a gland or flange trial and shares compression and leak results; Kaxite reviews the data and recommends density or reinforcement adjustments. Factory visits and video audits are welcome by appointment. ISO 9001 certificate details are available on request and linked from the About page.

If you are comparing corrugated graphite tape against other gasket tape constructions, send your media, temperature, flange finish and annual volume. Kaxite Sealing will return a specification match and a free sample for line trial, freight collect.

Frequently asked questions

What temperature can corrugated graphite tape withstand?
In inert atmosphere, Kaxite corrugated graphite tape operates from -200°C to +800°C. In oxidizing atmosphere, +600°C is a typical internal test value; the actual limit depends on media and cycle frequency. A third-party test report is available on request.
What is the difference between corrugated and flat graphite tape?
Corrugated graphite tape has a wave-profile surface that creates controlled compression points, improving recovery on pitted, warped or thermally cycled sealing faces. Flat graphite tape is better suited to smooth, well-prepared surfaces.
What is the MOQ for custom slit widths?
Standard MOQ is 50 kg or 100–200 rolls per specification. Trial orders are negotiable, and custom slit widths start from 3 mm.
Can corrugated graphite tape be used in oxidizing atmospheres?
Corrugated graphite tape can be used in oxidizing atmospheres up to +600°C as a typical internal test value. Actual service life depends on media, compression and cycle frequency; Kaxite reviews each application before recommending a grade.
Do you provide free samples and factory audits?
Kaxite provides free small samples for qualified line trials, freight collect. Factory visits and video audits are welcome by appointment. ISO 9001 certificate details are available on request.
